About the Caranga–Entrago section
The longest section of the Bear Trail covers 15 km from Caranga junction to the northern starting point at Entrago. This stage passes through the heart of the Teverga valley with the most dramatic gorges and the highest concentration of illuminated tunnels on the entire network.
What to see on this section
- Peñas Juntas gorge: Sheer limestone walls towering above the trail — one of the most photographed spots on the whole route.
- Teverga tunnels: The most numerous tunnels on the network, each with its own character and lighting.
- Trubia river: The river accompanies the trail for most of this section, with several picnic areas and natural pools.
- Entrago starting point: The official km 0, where bike rental companies are based.

How many kilometers long is the Bear Trail?
The Bear Trail is approximately 50 km in its full route, divided into several sections that you can do independently.
Is it suitable for families with children?
Yes, it is one of the most suitable routes for families in Asturias. The terrain is flat and well-signposted. We recommend the Tuñón–Proaza section for the little ones.
Can it be done with a dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. There are water fountains at several points along the route.
How long does it take to complete the full trail?
For the full route, you will need between 5 and 7 hours walking at a leisurely pace. Most visitors divide the route into two days.
Where can I park?
There are several free parking lots at the starting points: Tuñón, Entrago, and Proaza. In high season they fill up early; we recommend arriving before 9am.
When is the best time to do the Bear Trail?
The route is practicable all year round, but spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) offer the best temperature and landscape conditions.
